Professional and career courses prepare participants to be experienced personnel in law enforcement and Police careers by elevating strategic, operational and tactical levels.
  1. Police Senior Command & Staff Course (PSCSC)

    The Police Senior Command and Staff Course (PSCSC) equips senior law enforcers with the skills to respond to identified policing challenges in command and control, operations, administration, force discipline, etc.

    The course is a one-year programme covering five main complementary components:

    • Police Operation and Staff Work.
    • Strategic Leadership and Management.
    • Peace Studies & Conflict Transformation.
    • Peace Support Operations.
    • International Computer Driving License (ICDL).

    By completing this course, you should be able to:

    • Demonstrate critical and logical thinking, oral and written communication skills, and practical skills in quick decision-making.
    • Comprehend police executive leadership, command, and professional policing at a strategic level.
    • Be familiar with police staff work and display a strategic supervisory capacity thereof.
    • Understand global systems of peace and conflict, root causes of conflicts, and conflict transformation patterns.
    • Develop skills in conflict analysis and assessment of needs of development processes and understand the link between security and development.
    • Have a deep understanding of the root causes of conflicts in the Great Lakes Region.
    • Develop an understanding of how conflict patterns can transform over time and how the content of critical issues can change.
    • Develop skills in conflict analysis and assess the needs of development processes.
    • Understand and explain the international dimension of conflicts in the Great Lakes Region.

  2. Police Junior Command & Staff Course (PJCSC)

    The Police Junior Command and Staff Course (PJCSC) is a five-month course that equips junior law enforcers who usually perform their duties at the operational level with knowledge and necessary skills to effectively and efficiently perform command and staff responsibilities.

    By completing this course, you should be able to:

    • Execute the principles and techniques of employing a police force in conventional police operations.
    • Comprehend the functions and techniques involved in contemporary police operations.
    • Think critically and logically, and communicate both orally and in writing professionally and effectively.
    • Perform the duties of a staff officer at tactical and operational levels of command during operations.
    • To comprehend leadership, command, and management principles to be applied at their levels.
    • To understand the operational doctrine, training policies, and organization of training.
    • To understand the logistics system used in their institutions and plan logistical support to operations using logistic estimates.

  3. Police Tactical Command Course (PTCC)

    The Police Junior Command and Staff Course (PJCSC) is a five-month course that equips junior law enforcers who usually perform their duties at the tactical level with knowledge and necessary skills to effectively and efficiently perform command and staff responsibilities.

    By completing this course, you should be able to:

    • Think critically and logically, and communicate both orally and in writing professionally and effectively.
    • Understand the roles, organization, and command structure of all departments of the Rwanda National Police.
    • Participants should realize the duties of a staff officer at the tactical level of command during operations.
    • Apply skills and techniques of drill and duties to achieve discipline and alertness.
    • Have the knowledge and skills required to use maps correctly.
    • Understand principles and techniques for employing a police force in conventional police operations at the tactical level.
    • Comprehend the functions and techniques involved in contemporary police operations.
    • Comprehend the leadership, command, and management of the Rwanda National Police.
