Knowledge for Professional Policing

Academic programmes conducted in partnership with the University of Rwanda and African Leadership University (ALU) prepare graduates to think critically in a complex world and find solutions to challenges in their field of work.
  1. Masters’ Programmes

    The master’s degree in peace studies and conflict transformation (MPSCT) is offered in partnership with the University of Rwanda (UR) through its Centre for Conflict Management, equips students with knowledge and skills to explore sources of conflict, to prevent and control violence and how to create sustainable peace solutions.

    Upon successfully completing the one-year programmes, students are awarded a Master’s Degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation (MPSCT) offered by the University of Rwanda (UR).

  2. Postgraduate Programme

    The Post-graduate Programme offers high quality education to enhance the leadership capabilities of leaders and managers through practical knowledge and a blended learning model that allows them to apply fundamental concepts of how leadership works on an:

  3. Individual, team, and organizational level;

  4. The ability to solve complex problems;

  5. And the capacity to inspire creativity and innovation in others.

  6. At the end of the program, the leaders and managers will be able to identify leadership traits necessary for personal growth, leadership paradigms, transcend traditional forms of building effective teams, and adopt the skillset for strategic thinking in an ever changing environment.

  7. Undegraduate Programme

    The National Police College undergraduate programmess are in the areas of Computer Science and Information security, Professional Police Studies, Law, and Modern Languages.

    Professional Police Studies (PPS)

    Professional Police Studies is a professional police course that uses a multi-disciplinary that explores law, social science subjects, and investigative methods in both ordinary and emerging crimes. Exploring these areas allows students to develop their interests and open up a world of career opportunities.

    Law & Criminology

    LLB (Hons) gives students a solid understanding of the law and problem-solving skills in various legal and non-legal settings, as well as basic skills required for legal research and strategic thinking skills necessary for the field of law.

    Computer Science & Information Security

    The Computer Science and Information Security course acquaints students with accelerated, enriching, and deepening skills in technology-related fields. Students learn how to investigate cybercrime cases.

    Modern Languages

    Students learn and master speaking, reading, learning, and writing skills in English, French, and Kinyarwanda, as well as translation and interpretations.
